Enterprise Search - Overview
Do your employees have instant access to the information they need to do their job? How much more effect could your business be if all employees were able to discover and use relevant information in a consistent and repeatable manner quickly and easily? Now you can find and use business information like never before Enterprise Search solutions from Ensynch based on Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007.
The Ensynch Difference

We're focused on business results and our clients know they are getting proven, consistent solutions and "Whatever IT Takes" commitment, to deliver unparalleled return on investment.
Over the years, organizational data repositories have grown dramatically, often outpacing IT's ability to install and configure additional disk space and backup/archive solutions to support the massive amounts of data produced daily. A bigger challenge than storing this information is finding relevant information pertaining to tasks or projects in a timely fashion. Unproductive time is dedicated to searching across these repositories, often with a lack of success.
| Search Enhancements in Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 |
| Search Center |
The Search Center results page displays the results in order of relevance, allows users to perform actions on the results, and displays matching keywords or "Best Bets" if they exist. |
| Keyword Searching |
Searches that use keywords return documents and information based on any matches found in the file content or metadata. |
| Highlighting of Search Results |
Query terms are highlighted on the results page, allowing the user to see the context in which the terms were found. |
| Spelling Suggestions |
The search engine will suggest alternate queries for misspelled words. |
| Collapsing of Duplicate Results |
When multiple/similiar results are returned, the search engine will "collapse" the multiple results into one item and offer the user the option of displaying the additional items. |
| Definitions |
To directly satisfy definition queries without requiring the user to click through to a document, the search engine now automatically extracts them from indexed content and displays them on the results page. |
| RSS Feeds |
With RSS feeds, users are able to get up-to-date information whenever information is changed or updated. |
| Alerts |
Search in SharePoint 2007 can provide email notifications when changes occur in the results of a search query identified with a search alert. |
Local desktop search utilities have come a long way in recent years, but what about all of that centrally stored data on your network? Estimates vary, but studies consistently show that Information Workers spend up to 25% of their time looking for information. Regardless of the financial impact you associate with those tasks, it is clear that businesses require more efficient means of finding and using information.
- Searching for Business Data requires a different approach than searching for web content.
- SharePoint Server provides search capabilities for internal intranet and extranet sites with a single search technology.
- Search for results through a browser interface as well as familiar applications such as Microsoft Office Word or Excel.
- The SharePoint Search ranking engine was developed in collaboration with Microsoft Research and the MSN Internet Search teams.
